Description:
Fumed Eucalyptus Wood Veneer, also known as smoked, is created by fuming the wood creating a dark brown tone. Eucalyptus veneer has a wide range of colors, textures, and figures. Higher end furniture producers use this species due to the pink to golden brown color..
Eucalyptus is primarily found in Australia but grows in Spain as well. It is also known as Tasmanian Oak.
Eucalyptus is one of the most important plantation tree species. It grows 20 times faster than oak. The pores are medium to coarse in size, scattered and often obliquely arranged. The grain is straight or weakly alternating. Eucalyptus is very difficult to work with by hand, but can be sanded and polished well. Eucalyptus is good for smoking because it contains tannic acid. The acidity is contained in the wood, ammonia (salmiak) is used as the base. The reaction of the acid in the wood and the ammonia as a base results in a natural dark colouring in the wood.
Applications:
Fumed Eucalyptus Wood Veneer is a product applied to the surface of the furniture to give it the appearance of being made of solid white oak lumber. It is also commonly used in surface of the door, also know as plywood, MDF, chipboard and block board and interior decoration, etc.
